I'm Christine. It's a pleasure to meet you.
Over the years I have experimented, explored and learned how to make best use of a wide variety
online and offline communication tools. I love opportunities to create smart, effective
copy solutions that are intuitive and make sense - for my clients and their
intended audiences. As much as I love a fantastic idea, I love it even
more when I can map it back to a business objective.
Origins
My writing career started when I was four. I wrote a story about what happened when Santa Claus went on a diet. Award-winning? Maybe not, but so began a life of inventing, imagining, writing, and re-writing - and creating new worlds with words.
Professional Experience
My first job after college was at Comcast Online when cable modem technology was an "experiment". I was hired to help write original content that demonstrated how great life on broadband could be. I continued working through the dot-com era, playing with words and working for a number creative agencies including AKQA, Interactive Strategies and RTC Relationship Media. Today I
work on a contractual or freelance basis with a variety of advertising, design and branding companies across the country. I also work directly for a number of corporate
clients, nonprofits and associations.
Special Areas of Interest
Education, food and nutrition, skin care, health and well being, nonprofit initiatives, advertising and new media, outdoor recreation, the environment, and sustainable architecture and design. I also offer extensive experience in working with the medical, healthcare, and phamaceutical industries.
Geography
While I typically work out of a home office in either Washington, DC or Whitefish, MT, I do travel and am capable of working on site when necessary. I'm fortunate to have great friends with great couches and guest rooms who seem to be okay with my extended stays - particularly in New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, and Missoula.
Strengths
My career has been about solving particularly unique marketing
and communications challenges: introducing products into very new
markets, gaining the attention of highly select audiences, and generating
awareness in fairly competitive environments. I've worked hard for - and with - companies big and small in areas that include advertising, marketing, public relations, content development, strategy, fund raising, and new business development.
Weaknesses
I break for bicycles, bad jokes, Cowgirl Coffee, red wine, farmer's markets, rockabilly music and Edward Norton. When I'm not playing with words or my two little dogs, I'm usually sewing clothing and making things for my side project, MyExBoyfriendStuff.com.
Other Odd Jobs
In addition to writing, I've held a variety of job titles that have
included (but are not limited to): artist representative, cosmetics
consultant, house manager, skin care specialist, sales person, bartender,
dental receptionist, night clerk, a Bloomingdale's housewares specialist, gluten-free baker, substitute school
teacher, painter, house sitter, babysitter, private investigator, dog walker, and
more.
